Enterprise & Data Centre Networking
STP designs and operates enterprise networks (campus, branch and data centre fabric) including application-centric infrastructure, east-west and north-south traffic management, and Network-as-a-Service where you would rather subscribe than buy switches.

Enterprise & Data Centre Networking
Application performance is usually decided by network design, not by server specification. When a distributed application is slow, the cause is frequently east-west traffic crossing a fabric that was designed only for north-south flows: traffic going up to the core and back down again because there was no better path.
We design the fabric around the traffic your applications actually generate, segment it so a compromise in one zone does not become a compromise everywhere, and document the intent so the next engineer understands why it looks the way it does.
Network-as-a-Service converts this into a subscription: STP specifies, owns, installs, monitors and refreshes the equipment for a monthly fee per site or per port. For multi-site organisations this replaces an unpredictable refresh cycle with a known operating cost.
What is included
- Campus LAN and wireless design, survey and deployment
- Data centre fabric design (leaf-spine, application centric infrastructure)
- East-west and north-south traffic engineering
- Network segmentation and micro-segmentation
- Routing and switching design, implementation and migration
- Firewall policy design and implementation
- WAN and multi-site interconnect, SD-WAN
- Wireless site survey, heat mapping and validation
- Network monitoring, flow visibility and capacity reporting
- Network-as-a-Service: equipment, operation and refresh by subscription
What you get out of it
- Application latency addressed at its actual cause
- Blast radius contained by segmentation designed in, not retrofitted
- Predictable network cost per site instead of capital spikes

Questions
- What is the difference between east-west and north-south traffic?
- North-south traffic flows between a client and a server, typically in and out of the data centre. East-west traffic flows between servers inside the data centre: for example between an application tier and a database, or between microservices. Modern applications generate far more east-west traffic than older ones, and a fabric designed only for north-south flows forces that traffic through the core, adding latency and creating a bottleneck.
- Is Network-as-a-Service cheaper than buying switches?
- Not always cheaper in total, but far more predictable. It removes the capital purchase, the refresh cycle and the spare-parts problem, and it moves fault resolution to us. It is most attractive for multi-site organisations and for businesses that would rather not hold network expertise in-house.
